Google has updated its “Sexually Explicit Content” policy to address the surging proliferation of AI-generated porn, or “synthetic sexually explicit content,” as the company calls it.

In an email sent out to all Google Ad Managers, meaning anyone who is using Google’s hugely popular ad platform product to show ads on their websites, received an email from the company saying it will update its policy in May 2024.

“The policy will be updated to specify that we do not allow promoting the creation or distribution of content that has been synthetically altered or generated to be sexually explicit or contain nudity,” the email said.
